How To Link inventory site to a financial dimension in dynamics 365?

When you set up a link between a financial dimension and the site inventory dimension, your legal entity can calculate profit and loss figures for each site.

A-SETUP

1- Create the Financial dimensions

General ledger / chart of acccounts / dimensions / Financial dimensions

 click new to custom dimension and assign the name for example (Site)

as you see, site Financial dimensions inactive, just click active 

note,

you can select this dimension as a segment in Configure account structures until activated 

click on dimension values form to create your sites (Financial dimensions)

2-Configure account structures

General ledger /Chart of accounts /structures /Configure account structures

create new structure

and click add segment to select the site Financial dimension

you can allow blank or not  as you like and click activate 

3- setup Ledger

add your account structure to leger 

General ledger /ledger  setup /ledger

click edit to add your account structure 

4- Activate dimension link

cost management/ ledger integration policies Setup / Dimension link:

click edit and the dimension to linked to the storage dimension site

click sites to link the storage dimension site 

now Financial dimension tab is visible and ready to link the storage dimension site 

click activate 

You must assign a financial dimension value to each site before you can complete this procedure.

then ok and wait until operation complete 

now dimension link activated 

B-Transaction 

if you create an inventory entry, you can see the site Financial dimension retrieved automatically as the below 

for counting

Movement

for transfer journal

(from dimension or to dimension ) linked with the financial dimension

for purchase order

for sales order

as the same for all inventory journals and all transactions that related to inventory.

How To Deactivate the financial dimension link?

When you deactivate a financial dimension link, the link between the site inventory dimension and the financial dimension is removed

How To lock/unlock the financial dimension link?

When you lock the financial dimension link, the following occurs:

New inventory transactions that use both inventory dimensions and financial dimensions are assigned a financial dimension value that is based on the value that is specified for the site.

You can post transactions that use both inventory dimensions and financial dimensions only when the dimension value of the linked financial dimension value matches the value that is specified for the site.

You cannot change the dimension value of the linked financial dimension on transactions that use both inventory dimensions and financial dimensions.

You cannot modify the financial dimension value that is associated with a site.

also, you can unlock link 

after unlock link, you can complete these tasks:

Post transactions that use both inventory dimensions and financial dimensions, even if the dimension value of the linked financial dimension does not match the value that is specified for the site.

Modify the dimension value of the linked financial dimension on open transactions that use both financial dimensions and inventory dimensions.

Modify the financial dimension values that are set up in the Sites form.

How to link open transaction?

you can do that easily, just use Linked dimension update form under periodic tasks in inventory management module
