Dynamics 365 finance and operation is a web application (you can access any time at any place based on your permissions)

Pros

1-Secure access on premise (everything resides within your company walls)
2-More flexibility updates (The customer is in full control VS. cloud mandatory updates)
3-Greater customization available (you can deploy packages at any time VS. cloud must back to Microsoft every time)
4-Internet connectivity not critical

  ​Cons

1-Longe installation time
2-Need internal IT resources to maintain servers
3-Cost of updates to system not included VS.  cloud is Free upgrades to latest version

Notes

**there are multiple features in development stage like data integration via API and Retail functionality



**Features not yet implemented like powerb.com integration and Microsoft Office integration...etc. and there are Features not intended for use in on-premises deployments for more details

**Upgrade is currently supported from either Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 only and It's very important that you install the latest version of SQL Server Management Studio before upgrade
